They're equal if you know how to use both players to their full potential.

Martial arts was more of a hobbie for Ken than Ryu.

If Ken put the effort Ryu put into training he would be stronger

I would RYU is stronger .. Ken is faster and more "reckless & unpredictable" making him more dangerous ..

You can see this in the game when Ken goes on his dragon punch, spinning kick, punch cheesing mode...

Game-wise, Ryu has been stronger since SF2:Turbo I think. Originally Ken was the stronger, slower one. Then they switched it for some reason and Ryu was the stronger one and ken the faster one in the games. Ken is typically the better/stronger character because of his mixups, speed, frame priority and less vulnerable moveset.

Canon-wise, Ryu and Ken were seen as even but Ken had the edge up until the Dark Hadou started to effect Ryu. Up til then, the case could be made that Ken was the more naturally gifted fighter being even with Ryu who trains diligently while Ken not nearly as much. Again though, once the Hadou tapped Ryu, his potential was just :ohlawd:

:ohhh: ken is a beast if he trained hard enough but he is lazier than ryu... he doesnt care about being the best. He could if he wanted to tho.

Ken also has those filthy hammer kicks in the alpha games. Overall his punch/kick combos were always better. Plus he parties and gets hoes while still being basically the best when i assume ryu just sits in caves but is still the same skill.

Ken is like those dudes who dont have to study and go to class and get 100s ... while RYU studies 8 hours a day. goes to sleep, goes to the bathroom and then studies some more and only gets a 99%

Ryu is unequivocally stronger and better than Ken. Always has, always will be. Ken is a bit faster though and reckless, like someone mentioned earlier.

Does anyone know why akuma's health is shytty? :skip:

He like Roy Jones Jr. He not used to getting touched, so when he actually does, his glass jaw is exposed.

The fukk up with this bullshyt. Ryu's an A-student and Ken's a slacker B-student.

Doesn't Ken have a stronger shoryuken, but Ryu has a stronger hadoken?

Actually, Ryu has the strongest of all 3 of their shared moves. His Shin-Shoryuken is outright more devastating then all of Ken's super shoryuken variations, with their standard ones, Ryu's is still technically stronger, but Ken's is flashier and goes further. Ryu's Hurricane Kick knocks you down off 1 hit and his EX joint is also more deadly, whereas Ken's normal joints just hits more, but don't get you off your feet and is faster. Ryu's fireball is the most obvious stronger comparative move as Ken only has two variations of his, whereas Ryu has what, like 6 or so (the electric joint, flaming fireball, reg. one, a super version and an ultra version). So overall, Ken's moves are just flashier cept for his fireball isn't nearly as good or as flashy as Ryu's multitude of them. After looking back and stating all this, I don't think it can be even be argued that Ryu is indisputably stronger than Ken.
