Spidey has always been the mascot for marvel and his only real competition for that spot was Wolverine and Hulk maybe. With the popularity of the MCU/Avengers movie, would you guys say Iron Man is a legitimate contender. He is the breakout star of the movies. He was the hero with the worst rogues gallery and was the least popular. The films changed all of that.

Spidey is far and away the most popular Marvel hero. Iron Man's more popular since the MCU blew up, but he still isn't on that level. Shoot, before his movie dropped in '08, no one outside of comic readers was really checking for him lol
