I wouldn't be surprised if I found out Andre 3k did some ghostwriting for him

1.DMX/Pac - raw emotion and visceral reflection ... also the ability to expose vulnerabilities... and stylistically playing with the pitch of their vocal projection ...I think artistically looking at the ethos of the two I find X very much so an influence... in fact iirc he has said this himself about X being the guy that made him want to really rap after hearing Xs first album ... and Pac he said was the guy who he had a “dream vision” from :mjlol:that made him focus his content on the more socially aware side ...that’s what lead him to do HiiiPower and take on that lane which he has been exploring ever since

2.Kurupt - Anyone who was into lyricism and lived on the west coast during the 90’s has to look up to Kurupts pen game ... I think you can see the influence in the way he sometimes just compiles his multis in that stream of conscious free flowing style ... he like Kurupt blends those traditional west coast sensibilities with that classic east coast lyric driven rhyming style

3.Nas - to me From a song crafting aspect from a music making aspect this is where I think he leans the most .... Nas is a supreme elite godly story teller and conceptual artist ... it’s very rare that you don’t catch him on an album or even a verse for that matter giving you an inteospective look into either some aspect of his personal life or someone else’s ... Kendrick to me attempts the same thing ...both are compound multi-syllable rooted storytelling MCs at their core ..they can do other things from a technical aspect but that is where the bread and butter is ...they aren’t these catchy one line catchphrase punchline rappers ... also from a conceptual stand point there’s only a handful of artist in the mainstream that attack concepts as frequently as Nas does sans Andre 3000 and I think Kendrick tries to emulate both of these dudes in that regard ... every Kendrick album since Sec.80 has had a running concept to it ... similar to Nas doing the Nigg*r album or HHID or It Was Writren or The Original unreleased I AM... most of his work is thematic and I feel Kendrick benefits from adopting that quality
