Alice Smith.

Got the superstar treatment one year at Black Girls Rock. That was it.

Yall are naming mfs that have gold and platinum plaques:gucci:

"Poppin" can mean whatever you want it to mean. People that should have been bigger or people that didn't gain ground at all.

People like Ameriie and Keri Hilson had a spark at one point but I don't think anybody would call them superstars, even though they should have been. They're pretty much obscure these days. Underrated, under appreciated.

Wow. You nikkas actually do know music. This is surprising.

"Dream" is such a dope ass song. I forgot all about her.

Alice Smith has all the tools.

But the process to "break" a big-voice black female r&b singer has evaporated.

And I'm talking about the old process that broke everyone from Aretha and Gladys up to Whitney, Toni Braxton and Beyonce.

This is interesting. I just started following Alice on IG. :blessed:

Maybe her music was too abstract. Idk fam. I figured if she had the right push, she probably could have killed the same market that people like Ledisi and Lalah Hathaway are marketed in. But good looks for putting me back onto her because she had legitimately been off my radar for yearsssssss. Forgot all about her.
