The closes "Trap" style song I know back in the days is this...

Listen to the rapid kicks

Listen to the keyboard synths

Listen to what he's rapping about

Listen to the simple singy hook he does at the end

:jbhmm:

E-40 the creator of Trap?

I think at some point Three 6 took it to the next level

Just like Toomp, Shawty Redd, and guys like Drumma Boy

Then funky fingers Zaytoven flipped it a bit

Then Lex Luger

Now it's Southside and Metro influencing the game

Southside was doing it the same time as Lex. He just happened to work more with Wooh Da Kid, while Lex worked with Waka Flocka and blew up.

i think what OP is talking about is beats like this

someone just beating the shyt out of the 808 bass

That's what I'm saying, we all have an idea of what it "sounds" like (and its sounds like a whole range of things), but nobody can 'define' it. :jbhmm: Or can you?

I can't, nor should I.

I think most people define it based on their first impression or introduction of a certain sound. Whether that was someone from Atlanta, or Memphis, or Houston.

Personally, I hear a lot of Three 6 influence in current trap production, but that doesn't mean that they're the sole creators of a sound, and I am very aware that Three 6 has their influences as well.

Personally, I've enjoyed this thread and similar threads simply for the discussion and stockpiling of tracks.

DJ Squeeky is the most underrated producer in all of hip hop

Newer shyt

DJ Paul didn't fukk with him though back in the day though

Paul & Juice were huge fans of Squeeky...they remade/remixed like 10-15 of his songs (and another 20 or so from DJ Zirk)....Paul & Juice were even sampling the shyt out their songs right in the middle of their beef they had largely over them continually sampling their songs :mjlol:

3-6 mafia wouldn't be 3-6 mafia without Squeeky's contributions.
