I feel like the Pharcyde is an era specific type group. The music wouldn't hit the same if it weren't 90s sounding

this is interesting to me. because while cities have gentrified and gotten less grimey, hip hop has become darker. the dance (kid n play, hammer, heavy d, etc) and fun eclectic (pharcyde, de la, LONS, ATCQ) movements happened when cities were the darkest, i really wonder why we can't have a quality, happy/fun movement again (i note quality because the ringtone era brought some dance/lighter songs, but it was so trash)
