Nelly is not as big as some of y'all are claiming. Yeah, he sold a lot of records and had some hits but he wasn't huge like Wayne was in 2008

We are talking about a rapper dictating the culture and taking over mainstream.

50 in 03
wayne in 08
Em around MMLP and Em show
Yup, this is the list.

I think you're overrated Wayne and underrating Nelly.

Nelly was the most popular rapper in the country at one point. Kids at my school was being Nelly for halloween and shyt.

And the fact that you name Wayne but dont name X. DMX was way hotter than Wayne was.

Im not including rappers that I don't have the full context or perspective of their career. Its why I didn't include snoop.

Nelly was the very popular at one point but he was not dictating the rap culture. He wasn't giving cosigns and having people blowup. He didn't was getting all the feature request.

Its all opinion though

DMX and Jay Z were at the same level at X's peak. Wayne was dominant in the street and the mainstream. He was number 1 on the billboard charts while having all the streets on lock and remixing everything. Nelly had hits but he was never considered the best in the game. All the 3 guys that Crimson mentioned had that.

Yall nikkas frontin on hammer

Which one of these muthafukkas had a doll? :wow:

I had a :mj: doll and a hammer and I used to make them nikkas fight and play basketball against each other.

Snoop had an INITIAL buzz and impact unlike anybody, closest would probably be 50 but he kinda bubbled up...Snoop went from 187 to fukking super stardom and it wasn't surprising, you knew it was coming just off one feature.

Snoop, Pac, Eminem, Biggie and 50 are easily candidates. I'd throw Lauryn Hill into the ring though. When she dropped Miseducation, she was inescapable. "That's an R&B album breh". It wasn't the R&B records that had her everywhere though, it was "Lost Ones" and "Doo Wop" (the song debuted at #1). She sang sang on both, but the verses were rap. All of her singles outside of "Ex Factor" (the remix had her rapping though) had rap verses. She sold 8 million records, covered magazines from The Source to Rollingstone to Time, and won the Grammy for Album of the Year.
