1940s: Sinatra
1950s: Elvis
1960s: The Beatles/ Muhammad Ali/MLK Jr
1970s: Led Zeppelin
1980s/90s: Michael Jackson/Jordan/Tyson
Ali was more famous in the 70s than the 60s. He was exiled in the late 60s and made his comeback in 1970. He went on to have his biggest fights during that decade.

There were a lot, but as far as the entertainment world, how could you be Black and not say his idol James Brown, the godfather of soul. He set the stage for soul, funk, go-go (which never stood a chance outside of DC), hip-hop, etc... Now the White media is trying to claim everything and call it all "Pop" :gucci:

So don't be surprised if hip-hop becomes pop 20 or 30 years from now.
