Who were the most overrated wrestlers of the 2000s indie wrestling boom?

ECW still holds up well bruh.

Neither ECW nor the Attitude Era (outside of Austin vs McMahon and parts of 2000) hold up at all. So brutal to get through them. SO much shytty wrestling, bad finishes, bad characters, bad angles.

Reckless Youth

People always praise him as being a pioneer, but I never got his appeal :yeshrug:

He was literally the first indie vanilla midget. A guy who wasn't a WWF/NWA guy from the 80s working spot shows in gyms around the country. He didn't come from a big company, didn't get famous in Japan. He inspired a lot of guys under 5'8" to think they could be successful doing shytty versions of World of Sport and AJPW matches they got from RF Video, which help funded RF's pedo escapades. A true pioneer.

But the main event AND mid cards of both had very relevant and logical fueds and storylines...somehow more depth with a smaller roster...attitude era main events and 2nd mains are easily the best in wrestling history

No they didn't. For every one memorable midcard feud, there were 15 that were dropped after 2 weeks, or went no where, or were over things like a faked miscarriage, fukking someone's sister, a tranny surprise, and so forth. Austin single handedly carried the show in 1998. It was great shyt when you were 12. Even weaker than the New Generation now.

Bullshyt to everything you just said, both hold up great and this smells of smarkdom. During the AE everyone had a storyline, whereas now it's main event or bust. What's really annoying are people who just want to shyt on anything that's popular.

Yes everyone had a storyline. But they were shytty storylines that never went anywhere and made for awful TV. Everyone had storylines in WCW when Russo showed up, too. "The Attitude Era doesn't hold up" is not some controversial smark opinion. You have access to all of it. Go watch 3 shows from 1998-1999 and tell me that they weren't trashy shows with trashy stories and terrible wrestling.

Not really on board with Low-Ki just cause I had been a fan of his from the Super J Cup days seeing him profiled in WOW Magazine from 99-01. Loved a lot of his TNA matches, and was very happy that he got a shot in the WWE. Just sucks that he wasn't patient enough to reap the benefits that came later with other wrestlers similar to him.

I do however agree with Colt Cabana. Other than knowing what his Matt Classic gimmick was, I've never seen a single appeal of why he was held in such high regard by people.

Finally found it :krs:

(14 minute mark)

:laff:

I woulda been up in there straight dying. Well worth the price of admission.

Another one:

Ric Blade - This entry is a bit different from my others. I contemplated if I should even add him as he isn't talked about much these days, unless it's in jest. He only had a two-year run as a fan favorite. Although he wasn't able to maintain a fanbase like his peers such as Ki, Joe, and Punk (which all three kept to this day), the fact remains that he played a huge role to the indie boom and was top five in terms of overness.

He was on Low-Ki's level of popularity and the biggest draw to a growing CZW as one of the original four CZW Wrestling Academy () graduates. He was their franchise player and busted out moves never seen in the States before. The fans ate up his... yardtard ninja?... style and couldn't wait for his next death-defying stunt. He was an indie GOD. There was only one problem:

He was absolutely HORRIBLE in-ring. :snoop:

Those struggle spring-board moves....

Never heard of Super Dragon before this thread.
Neither have I but this discussion on him with these youtube clips to highlight is pure comedy....:russ:

Wrestling is both hilarious and depressing at the same time.
