this is a great question.

i'm assuming that you are asking about contemporary individuals.
if i'm wrong and you are taking into account people of all time then please correct me.

i'm a big fan of Dan Carlin and he describes people who have made their mark on history as "Historical Arsonists".
these are people who have destroyed on a massive scale allowing something new to arise from the ashes.

but then you have your Di vinci, Einstein, Picasso...they will not be forgotten.
