Dante's pretty hard to kill. In every game he get's stabbed and his reaction is always. Plus, he's got devil trigger that makes him 2x faster and stronger than before and the ability to stop/slow down time.

Ryu has agility on his side, ninpo and can use weapons bigger than he is like it's nothing.

If you take away the extra items, Ryu could beat Dante with little problems. Dante at full power is a different story though.

Dante can stop time, block everything, clone himself, teleport, and fire his D.Eagles like 22's (without reloading). He went to hell and fukked up the equivalent of Satan, and has umpteen weapons on him at any time. He got stabbed, thrown off a building, shot in the head, and that shyt off. DMC2 Dante (and DMC4 but that's excluded) are him walking around with God Mode enabled. Ryu would get gunned up and clapped quick. He don't want that smoke.

Capcom characters are as bad as Marvel characters, in terms of power creep.
