It seems to me that the early 2000s was a good time for black stand up comedy.

Since then we've gotten people like Kevin hart, Jarrod Carmichael, Michael Che and Lil rel

But none of them other than Kevin have been stars and if I'm keeping it real none of them have made me laugh harder than Bernie Mac or Chris Rock at their best.

It's weird stand up comedy is in this weird place because a lot of would be comedians are sticking to the social media circuit. I think we had a golden era with the kings of comedy, Chappelle, Rock, etc. All performing during a time when stand up was a requirement to make it in comedy. Now we got dudes like Druski who's whole schtick is to do skits but would actually bomb hard on stage.
The people you mentioned in the OP are OK. I just think the talent is out there but they are pursuing comedy in other outlets

Lavell been consistently stupid on a level that, in my opinion, has surpassed Eddie Griffin due to volume/body of work.
He ain't and won't become household name famous, but I've never seen a standup/interview of his that wasn't funny as shyt the whole way through.

Dog, I can even find humor in Wayne Brady. Funny is funny. All that you gotta move a certain way for me to be entertained is some insecure bullshyt.

I have no idea how he is able to generate material that quickly. And it’s really good material too.

I think he would make a great Daily Show full time host.
