Who would you say are the funniest black comedians working right now?

Streaming has stunted the growth of alot of black up and comers comedians (all comedians really)

They used to have to tour club to club to perfect a routine, until they got noticed and then they would monetize the greatest hits of their routine into the premise for a tv show. Then if the tv show was a hit, start making movies. Everybody did this, from red foxx, to bill cosby, dave Chapelle, martin Lawrence etc

Now they stream do lil 2 min skits, then try to do a lil bit of standup part time and repeat. If they get popular doing this they will get enough money from endorsements fand youtube that they don't need to change, which essentially traps them in that pattern. So they never blossom into greatness.

I have no idea how he is able to generate material that quickly. And it’s really good material too.

I think he would make a great Daily Show full time host.

I'm not funny, but he's essentially taking a current topic and just writing 7 or 8 jokes around him narrating that topic, it's not joke after joke after joke. He just makes sure it's something everyone is talking about and just puts his voice over it. Not saying it's easy, but you probably can get into a routine with it.

Low-key, he reminds me of a young Bill Cosby.

Haven't seen anyone other than Josh Johnson that is funny right now and is Black. Even if you compare him to stuff from Comic View, late 90s, etc I don't think he's as that funny but I do enjoy watching him.

Lavell been consistently stupid on a level that, in my opinion, has surpassed Eddie Griffin due to volume/body of work.
He ain't and won't become household name famous, but I've never seen a standup/interview of his that wasn't funny as shyt the whole way through.

repped. im glad lavell got more well known to the mainstream from breaking bad. everyone should check out comedy vaccine if you havent. dudes been holding it down since he was on comicview in the 90s. i was worried he might lose his 'funny' when he lost weight but he hasnt. glad to see him in better health, because his heart had to be going with every beat

As far as joke after joke after joke, it's been hard to find quality black comedians. I also think Trevor Noah is MUCH funnier than Josh but Trevor rarely puts out material.

Dude is white but Sam Morrill is the best stand up comedian in America right now and I don't think it's close

Josh Johnson's style reminds me of other story telling comedians like Bill Cosby, Robin Harris, or Ali Sadiq. He does a good job of setting up the punchline, but he'll take you on a tangent before he lands the joke.
His style isn't for everybody, but the breh is pretty talented.

Yea, dude is hilarious and his jokes are much more constant than Josh. Josh spends A LOT of time setting up the punchline, Trevor does this also, but he drops jokes inside of the set ups. Trevor is underrated as hell, dudes comedy is so damn intelligent and thoughtful.

The dude Sam Morrill though, ALL his shyt is joke after joke after joke. You get no chill time with Sam, every line is a joke and all his shyt is funny. Sam doesn't set up shyt really lol, every line is something that's funny as hell. But unfortunately for this topic, he's a white dude.

I honestly think Comicview would have been bigger had they had him as host and not Bruce Bruce, but he still around, healthy(er) and funny as shyt, off the cuff too. Hope he gets a Netflix special or two moving forward, 'cause I'm tired of all that Joe Rogan and his cac friends "Dicey Dicey" shyt, on GOD.
