I think he has pretty dope projects. He has a great delivery and flow. He is actually not bad at punchlines at all. He has a few songs that I feel could've got traction. I mean he's pretty decent. He's not groundbreaking or anything. But not everyone has to be.
I can dig that, I even agree that he got a great voice & flow. My issue is he isn't saying anything of substance in any respect... With his content being as derivative as it is his the details are important. Roc Marciano is a one-trick pony as far as delivery but that works for him because he creates his character in the lyrics. It's the lines like this:
"...Line the whips up,
talking to Siri in the 8 series
With Katie and her fake titties, sipping Remy
On the rocks,
Montclair when the air's chilly
For playing Willie got jammed out in Philly
Split him open like a Philly, feel the fury
They find you in the trunk of Missouri, all smelly
Solicitor of flesh, ridiculous sex
A heavy pistol in the Michelin nest
Spit the best, be on Twitter less
Triple X suflex off the roof, mama I'm a juice head
The coupe's red,
the crew still moves from my toolshed
This is truth not bootleg
The deuce-deuce is in the boot by the leg
Fly shoe head spread, guns wonderbread
it's under the bed, plus a couple in the duffle-bag
Take a better look, I'm peddling cook
Fiends shoot heroin in the foot
Still play it by the book, the grey tops bottled up
The hood swallow us up, what the fukk?"
That paint the picture. The content in that verse is pretty much the same as Dave East's verse on this thread, it's the details that differentiate them. East would never say something like "a heavy pistol in the Michelin nest", he would say some shyt like "keep a burner in the car tire" which is the same idea but not as clever. Roc does a better job of bringing you into his world, Dave East got a better delivery but his lyrics are dry.
