I remember those songs when I was little but the impact on shaping hip hop was the deciding factor
A lot of their tracks inspired producers & rappers in the 90s
dude was right when he mentioned how much whodini has been sampled. theyre one of the most sampled acts by far.

.....Take cats back to elementary, EVERYBODY in my classroom knew that song, wasn't even in the 3rd grade yet. This fool Eric started yelling that Big Mouth shyt to this girl named Ebony Humphrey, all the dudes called her Ebony Hump, no bullshyt. She swung her backpack on him and hit him upside the head. This fool goes off, grabs her in a bear hug, pick her up and slams her. Her mama pulls up in a van outta no where, no questions, hops out and starts bussin at EVERYBODY witta bb gun, which everybody thought was the real thing. A teacher and like 3 students was hit, TRUE STORY.
Don't mean to stray off topic but EVERY time I hear that song I get flashbacks.

as much as i like Onyx i have to vote for Whodini. Friends, One Love, the beats, the influence. Onyx had a lot of influence too tho don't get it twisted. but i don't see people doing remakes of Slam or Shiftee. Last Dayz is a freestyle/battle staple but not the same as Nas using the Friends beat for a hit song in the mid 90s & people were still sampling & using it in the 2000s, probably still are.
