The bigger travesty imo, is what they did with him following the streak. They basically didn't know how to use him in the aftermath of that tragedy of Nash beating him. He absolutely had to lose at some point as it's always been a winning formula for the top babyface to be in hot pursuit of the title rather then them always having the belt. They just went about having him lose the wrong way because of egos, and Goldberg never quite recovered in the aftermath of it.
For that situation Goldberg didn't want to play ball, hell Goldberg barely defended the belt on ppvs. Now everything else was Hogan and co. hitting Jericho with the sabotage.
You can really tell that Goldberg streak was pure accident and was able to capitalize on it. Once the streak was gone he was no longer important since Russo wanted to push Booker, Jarrett, Nash, David Arquette

Yeah he could of had protected losses and MAYBE you could of got away with DDP barely beating him. But the way he loss and then the way they got the belt off of Nash were extremely stupid moves that is hard to believe was thought of for a two hour planning session yet alone a company directive. Just buck wild to me.
