What does being born and raised in Africa have to do with her genealogy?
Once again you are talking about two different things and you aren't even aware of it.
My younger brother was born in England, my youngest was born in America, they are still 100% Nigerian by blood.
You need to define if you are talking about genealogy or nationality. It's kind of difficult to follow your post when you mix the two
I'm a black American with African ancestry it's really not hard to grasp people now say it with me.

IF you are speaking of me, you are misrepresenting what I'm saying. People don't seem to be understanding the terms.
Charlize Theron IS and identifies as African American, yet she is also white.
Her origin and place of birth is Africa
her ethnicity is African-American
Her genealogy is French, German, and Dutch
Origin - person's social background or ancestry
An ethnic group or ethnicity is a category of people who identify with each other based on common ancestral, social, cultural or national experience. Unlike most other social groups, ethnicity is primarily an inherited status
Genealogy - Genealogy (from Greek: γενεά genea, "generation"; and λόγος logos, "knowledge"), also known as family history, is the study of families and the tracing of their lineages and history. Genealogists use oral interviews, historical records, genetic analysis, and other records to obtain information about a family and to demonstrate kinship and pedigrees of its members. Was she born in africa? Lived in africa? She's right. She's an American of African descent. Just like i am. Just like most of you are.

the bytch didnt buy a house in america until 2007. stop
shes not AMERICAN.... she is EUROPEAN BORN in AFRICA. She is not a native of africa. stop please.
she can be that dumb bytch not going around calling herself european african, but saying shes african american all she wants.
she still is wrong. and looks foolish using that wording
This is what I don't understand. How and why does African American refer to race when it implies it in no way in the word. It just uses a continent instead of being specific with a country.Since African American is a race that refers to a black person, Charlie is therefore not African A
Bruh
She was BORN and RAISED in Africa. BORN there. Her genetics are obviously a mix of all kinds of shyt, but her country of origin and ethnicity is African-American.
You're issues seem to be more about how we define the terms, actually. I put the definitions up there for you. Your ethnicity is social and cultural. African-American tells your ethnicity, NOT your genealogy and it was never intended to. To the core of this thread, Whoopi is speaking on her own personal ethnicity. She identifies as AMERICAN, and on an ethnic basis, it holds merit. OF COURSE she has African DNA and roots, but that is a different category, that isn't how your ethnicity is determined.

You sounding really uneducated right now.
First of all, stop talking about genealogy. This thread isn't about that. It's about the term African American and how Whoopi['s dumbass] thinks it defines her nationality/citizenship. She is an American.
ok
we got that
She is also Black so she is a Black American. Some Black people ALSO (key word) refer to themselves as African American. Black and African American are terms under race/ethnicity. Race is very broad, which is why there tends to be a "Other" option when defining your race on documents.
Since African American is a race that refers to a black person, Charlie is therefore not African American.
So shut your dumbass up.
