while race is a social construct, visible markers like skin color make it easier for racists to distinguish differences between people more than religion/ethnicity. an ethnic korean (jaegaseung) doesn't look different from any other korean; their beliefs are just different. a black american definitely looks different from a white american, but can ethnically be the same and racially different.
