I'm 100% sure the average non-gamer wouldn't know either one of them by name, so iconic might be a stretch for either one. At best, Master chief being "recognizable" by the mainstream, non-gaming populus would think he's a green storm trooper or some other Star Wars related shyt, so that's a farce.

As for what's hot now in gaming, Kratos is in, MC...not so much.

kratos survives in a sea of iconic IP, and i sitll think his design is recognizable even from a minimalist perspective. You wear a light grey t shirt with a red stripe on it and people will think of kratos. theres nothing really interseting design wwise with Master chief
