Travis $cott will try and give you that body but he'll suffer from same trappings as Rocky.
he's not good enough or interesting enough a rapper to elevate it to "masterpiece"

the music sounds horrible and has zero replay value.

Good enough?

except the music doesn't sound horrible...its Kendrick that does.

lol at comparing Rocky and Travis.

Travis doesn't have 1/5th the charisma Rocky does. Rocky has a way better flow and even his rhymes are much better.

Then we come to production and its really game over.

By the way, this may seem off topic, but do you consider Fantastic Vol 2 to be a masterpiece?

i think we already know Rocky is better than Travis and can at least go a bit deeper but on the face of it all they'll still suffer from the same traps.

:yeshrug:

as far as the Slum Village album.. been a while since i've listened to it.
from a production stand point...maybe...can't remember a bar uttered on that album though.

precisely. Live.Love.ASAP. is better than Fantastic Vol 2 but they're essentially the same situation: out of this world beats, immaculate flows and filler rhymes.

You can make masterpieces in hip hop based on that. It's a lower tier masterpiece to stuff like Illmatic that has all that plus amazing rhymes, but you get the idea

i've replayed TPAB like 10 times the first week and plenty of times since then. I don't see why you skip it since it's a concept album where every song needs to be processed to fully understand it or experience it as you say
uz at the end of they day its the music that keeps me playing it..once a message is soaked in the music has to do its job o giving a song replay value....some of those songs on that album are not really songs i get the urge to play again.

the music is great though. I love the lyrics and the production behind it is so well layered with jazz and soul samples. I guess it's just taste but musically it's as well put together as it was lyrically

doubt it

and def jam isn't promoting the album like at all with its release date coming up

I smell a flop to be honest

what does the album flopping have to do with CLASSIC music? Below the Heavens didnt go plat. took illmatic years before it went plat i think.

I said that a flop couldn't be a classic? I don't think that's what I said

I said I doubt it, then I added I think it will flop. not that i doubt it because I think it will flop

Vince staples doesn't hit it for me personally

you know what?
Travis and Rocky is a PERFECT comparison. both are ehhh and average at rhyming, but both have amazing production. not similar, travis is more gothic and hype, while asap is more cloud and based. naw mean? both carried by dope beats...you a blind stan if you cant see that.

A$AP, Kendrick, Earl all dropped dope ass albums that you can tell they tried to make as much of a masterpiece as possible. You can tell Chance is gonna do the same for his debut album (hopefully). Future dropps nothing but masterpieces :whew:
