Since Rick Rude was the WCW International Champion (big gold belt) and Curt Hennig was the AWA Champion, I'm going with Owen Hart. Owen should've won the title at SummerSlam 1994. It would've added more fuel to the fire to the feud with Bret. I don't think he would've necessarily been a good champion at the time, but that feud would've been cemented as one of the greatest if it had happened.

Uncertain grounds
What I mean is: The big gold belt was still being used for the NWA Championship, and WCW still picked who the NWA Champion would be. Ric Flair was both WCW and NWA Champion when he dropped the title to Rude, which the NWA didn't agree with so they ended the relationship completely, WCW kept the belt and renamed it.

:ehh:

Rick Rude win the international title in WCW

Voted for Rick Rude. Curt was a close 2nd. My boy Arn was also a close 2nd. Always thought he should have gotten a run and a feud with Flair.

The fans were red hot for Owen after Montreal, the whole crowd was chanting his name here...

And all we got was some half assed match on Raw before he was shoved down to the midcard to get Hunter over.

Mr. Perfect should have had a transitional run as a work horse similar to Bret in 92

I always felt that Perfect should've gotten the run with the title in '92 instead of Bret.

My vote would go to either Piper who should've had a run with the belt in 84-85 or Dibiase would should've won it at WMIV, IMO.

THIS.
I always felt like mr perfect should've got bret hart's spot.
the WWF also should've gave us a macho man/mr perfect feud over the belt.
they basically chased their audience away and handed them over to WCW, the same way SEGA basically handed their audience over to the PlayStation.

but wait, is ted dibiase not in the record books as WWF champion??

I feel like instead of Diesel getting that long run with the title in 94/95, it should’ve been Owen. Diesel’s run bombed in part because outside of Shawn Michaels, there were no credible heels for him to really work with and even HBK went face after Mania. But with Owen as champion you had Diesel/Bret/HBK/Taker/Razor and maybe even a reheated Lex to feud with. But the WWF was still a babyface territory then so :manny:

Disagree. Perfect as a face wouldn't have worked in a Bret reign. Perfect as a heel though should have beaten Hogan at some point. Win it after winning the 1990 Rumble and drop it back at Wrestlemania 6 to Warrior or Hogan.

Hogan nixed working with Perfect. That whole undefeated streak with the perfect promos was supposed to build up to him winning the Royal Rumble and getting a title shot at Wrestlemania, but Hoegan knew Curt, like Bret Hart would make him look foolish in the ring so he ran to Vince.
