Only 2 cac guitarists I like are Jerry Cantrell and Peter Wichers, cause they're really bluesy in regards to metal.

Gotta add Kim Thayil to the list also (he's Indian but whatever) Been listening to a bunch of Soilwork lately after hearing their old guitarist on a podcast. Think I like them more than In Flames:leon:

Hendrix of course

Earnie Isley just be making that thing weep!

Clapton was cool but even he had to give it up to Prince

It’s funny that this thread came up cause I’ve been listening to this shyt for like 2 days now. Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac was a killer on the guitar too.

Lately the classically influenced guys been inspiring me...

Ritchie Blackmore who wrote arguably the most known rock riff ever but not many even know his name. His vibrato and improvisation is just :ohlawd:
Dude is an a$$hole too ..guy would point a 100w Marshall stack on full blast directly at his lead singer just to be a :troll:

His playing on Made in Japan was :ohlawd: ..just period.

Funky playing too

Peter is a one of a kind guitarist man, a lot of people owe their style to him. All these 3rd Rate Soilwork clones are so bad.. The two guys who replaced him and his uncle are good, but their solos.. it's just mindless shredding. Peter EMPHASIZED phrasing, bends and vibrato. He could outplay anyone if he wanted, but he only played what he felt was needed.

The solos on Shadowchild, Mindfields, a lot of the Predators Portrait songs.. were epic orchestrations of solos. Ifa solo needed only 4 notes, that was he did as well and it would still resonate. His successors need to not try so hard.

Soilwork is very bluesy which I think black people could gravitate towards them. It's non gimmicky, and it makes you wanna move. Millionflame and Realm of the Wasted have these little blues breaks in the song that are amazing

Ha! @ some CAC

I didn't vote because the list is missing too many greats. Dudes like Grant Green, Kenny Burrell, Charlie Christian, George Benson & Wes Montgomery would have something to say about this poll.

I know most like to keep it basic with their music, but check these dudes out if you're into guitar.

i have some experience on acoustic guitar, but is straight novice status on electric, so my opinion probably isn't as valid as some of the better players on the coli, but i'll say this....prince probably won't go down as the greatest, but dude probably is the most entertaining imo. i read a story about dude learning other guitarists songs and inviting them to his concert where he would perform the song with the revolution, then he'd proceed to sh!t on said guitarists while making their song his.....and then i saw this....

:mjcry::mjcry::mjcry: son threw that hohner tele in the sky and the guitar gods caught it.

Thing about Prince is...I don't think we really have a clue how good he really was. His talent was really incomprehensible. I saw him a few times in person, as I have a few of the other guys that have been mentioned, and I legitimately left amazed at his playing. His technique was flawless...EVERY TIME. Even Hendrix got sloppy every now and then, and he's the best ever....but not Prince. I wouldn't be mad at anyone that puts him in the conversation of best guitarist ever. He legitimately belongs in that conversation from what I've seen.

My 5:
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Prince
3. Jimmy Page
4. Duane Allman
5. Stevie Ray Vaughan
