I basically chalk it up to him going from homeless to the most anticipated rapper and making his money.

He definitely is a special talented. But, was given a lot real quick and couldn't handle it.
It's unfortunate, but it's better to see a breh get money and lose hunger. Rather than get money and spiral out of control with vices

Reading all these posts let's me know a lot of cats just didn't give a fukk about their career after they got a little bread and fame. If you give the average dude a 100-200 thousand dollar advance with a house and a car they probably wont have to much motivation either. But Gucci is a prime example of having a disappointing career. When he was at his peak in popularity and about to blow with the State vs Radric Davis he did what he does best and ended up getting locked up.

There's so many.

Saigon - for a minute there it really seemed like he was gonna blow. The material was there, he was putting out some good sh*t. There was buzz around his name. But if I remember correctly, issues with Atlantic pretty much shelved his album for years and he missed his time. His post-TGSNT stuff isn't that great IMO. Maybe I need to check it again, but it just seemed lazier and without urgency. Didn't do nuthin for me.

Jay Electronica - don't really need to say nothing here. He been out since Bush II was president and still hasn't put out an album.

The Lady of Rage - I don't understand why she managed to only put out one album, right when Death Row was imploding. It got really no promotion and I think it's mostly been forgotten.

L.E.P. Bogus Boys - they disappeared after that Green Lantern mixtape. Weren't they signed to Interscope? Did they break up?

Crooked I - his early stuff was blowin my mind as a teenager. Does anyone remember "Nobody Understands Me" with the Badu sample? Has that ever been released in HQ? I remember actually writing out the lyrics to "Uh Oh" from the Escape From Death Row comp so I could study his wordplay and cadence. Being on Death Row really f*cked up his career. He really has never put out a quality album IMO.

Lupe - after The Cool, something happened to him and he just got weird. Or maybe social media really exposed his personality in a way that we weren't aware of before. I do think Kendrick took the lane Lupe was headed towards and ran with it, so at least someone went that way.

Tru Life - this is a bit embarassing in retrospect, because he was basically a solider or a goon for other people's beefs, but I was rooting for him. He had a couple nice tracks with 9th Wonder production if I remember right.

Nipsey Hussle - I don't know whether he just isn't interested in pushing a retail album instead of mixtapes or he is just getting f*cked over, but I think its a tragedy that he never has blown up.

Whole mid 2000s Philly scene - all them cats. Reed Dollaz, Joey Jihad, Slaughter Rico, I'm probably forgetting someone. That was an exciting scene for a second. All them freestyle battles and vids and sh*t. I suppose at least Meek got big. But them other dudes are MIA currently.

Lupe - I dunno what happened between The Cool and Lasers but... damn
Chamillionaire - does anybody else notice this when you listen to everything pre-Mixtape Messiah 3, his flow is so concise and smooth but starting with Mixtape Messiah 3 every verse by him has this awkward as fukk flow and every punch line was so corny... I still follow dude on IG because he's inspiring with his investment career but damn, he could have been one of the GOATs

Chamillionaire. He should have been bigger than he was. He still has the potential to come back and make hits. Has the money too to get airplay himself.

Post 2011 Wiz Khalifa

He’s had a great career with a lot of success but once he released Rolling Papers, I checked out. He has songs I’ve liked since then but I’ll always go back to his mixtapes before any of his albums. I guess Wiz was tired of being an underground rapper and wanted the commercial success. Once Amber Rose came on the scene I knew then that he had completely drank the kool-aid.

fukk, that Flight School mixtape had me a Wiz stan for a good while
