I don't miss them up north storms at all. Lived in Maryland for awhile and Chicago for a little bit. My dad posted some pics on FB from Maryland and the snow was over people's cars. We got about 6 or 7 inches down here where I'm at and these folks panicked like we were getting a NYC storm. For the people on here that lived up north but live in the south now you know what I'm saying how these people act when they hint we might get a drop of snow. Shut down campus for the next 2 days (ain't complain:yeshrug:) before everything jumped off..and of course when it get do get icy they tell people to stay off the roads and but these people want to be out :upsetfavre:.

"these people ..."

but yeah, I don't see why there aren't even more northerners fleeing south.... the yearly prospect of 3+ feet of snow and temps well below freezing each winter coupled with the cost of living isn't the wave. Gluttons for punishment.

Once you get used to a certain lifestyle it's hard to give up. Plus the south isn't for everyone. Everything is soooo different. You give up a lot. Plus, the northeast is better equipped for snow. This is a blizzard/snow storm... a severe weather event different that simple snowfall.

True. Not used to the blizzard life and it's difficult for me to grasp. Had an acquaintance from Michigan who was saying how they rode snowmobiles to school.

I think being in a snow prone area makes it easier to cope with snow. I'm usually well prepared for snow as far as coats, boots, ice scraper, shovels, salt, etc. because I grew up in it. I used to pray for snow days, but growing up in an area used to snow, it wasn't a show stopper. Skiing, sledding and other snow stuff is really fun. Shoveling snow... Not so much...
