Neither..
No balance in both scenarios..
When people are doing good, they rarely talk about the bad times..
The ones that are humbled or in a tight spot, blame circumstance and woe is me..
I listen to the experienced, mostly older people..
I’ve done that all my life..
They will tell you real shyt with no chaser..

What factors determine balance? Struggles?!

this is a bad attempt at trying to sound smart

to the thread starter, on a realistic, practical level, if you dont have to pick one, i say listen to both. the successful person paints you a real life image of what you can aspire to. the unsuccessful person provides a view into a world you never want to descend into.

u need the viewpoint of the unsuccessful person so that when times get tough, when you have no energy, when motivation is hard to find, all u need to do is remember his words, resurrect the pitiful images of his lifestyle, and there you shall find the push you need to move forward.

The Truth..
Most people(on either side) give you the short answer to their position in life..
The most intriguing people are the ones that actually explain where they went wrong, take personal ownership of both good and the bad while still believing in themselves and core values..
Many of the successful people I talk to just like to talk about their accolades, education, knowledge of said field..
The people I talk to that are comfortable/semi struggling only talk of if I had, I just need, i got to get out this whole..
Many people like to omit shyt out of their stories maybe out of embarrassment/gain sympathy..
Others embellish to make themselves seem superior..
Not saying all because there are always exceptions but all the older people I talk to(successful/comfortable/struggling) tell you all their faults, where they fukked up, where they were triumphant, where they lost sight and what they learned..
Many people just don’t want to tell you the truth simply out of fear..
Even the most confident person doesn’t want you to know the truth..
Experience changes that(hopefully)..
Also wisdom is not just regulated to older folks.
I know young cats out here with more wisdom then 50 year olds..
But in my situation
I always found older people steered me in the right direction..
And their vision/experience kept me out of trouble..

Not trying to sound smart..
It’s my opinion..
That’s how I feel..
I could pick apart your statement but don’t feel like it..
You got it sir..

In Da 15th
A person at his/her lowest who has seen it all - rose to the top and fell down back to earth.

Those people are always introspective and you can always learn from their mistakes because the speak nothing but facts.
