Why do people dislike kickstarter?

It's less about Kickstarter and more about who uses it. Whenever a successful or rich person uses it there's an automatic negative backlash from people who think that rich people are just having poor people finance their movie instead of paying for it themselves. In reality these dudes have already put a lot of money into it, they just need help to get over the hump. You would think more people would support artists who want to do projects that the mainstream film/TV/gaming/etc industries don't want to fund. Same thing happened with the Veronica Mars kickstarter.

Independent voices need to be supported in art, period. Kickstarter allows that, and should be commended. I gave money to LeVar Burton even though he's rich because I support what he wants to do. Reading Rainbow is essential, in my eyes. It got me into reading, it opened my imagination.
