In the end, you have to see for yourself if you really like it or not. Me personally I really can't see myself doing anything else and I started programming when I was 15 just for fun( now 30 ).

I tried to force programming on other people before, and if they dont like it, not much you can do about it. I work with people now who you can tell are just there for the paycheck, but you'll find that in all fields( maybe except Doctors....or so I hope LOL )

what would u suggest as a "test" of an individuals aptitude in programming??
I've tried learning on my own, the learning isn't the issue.

I believe its more so that I don't have any direction, I don't know what type of program that I want to write..
Idk if thats irrelevant but to me I cant see myself writing programs if I don't even know what it is I'm trying to write.

look people, most careers are going to fukking suck at points. A lot of high paying jobs are boring but they pay a lot so who gives a fukk, stack that money and enjoy your off time. You think anyone actually likes to do majors like programming, accounting, computer engineering etc?

I have been going to Meetups for different programming languages... nobody is a straight programmer... some of these guys do back end server stuff, some of em oddly enough do work for banks running models and crunching numbers, some do web shyt, etc. etc.

Common threads Im seeing with these dudes though is an aptitude for logic/math and the ability to apply those things to solve problems. When you look at programming from that end... a tool used as a means to an end rather than an end itself... shyt starts to open up and make more sense. But you have to develop the skills before you can use them

I'm a follower of HalfSigma. Some of this post is valid, but beware that this blogger is extremely prestige obsessed and knocks programming because of how he thinks upper-middle class white people perceive it. However, if you're from the hood or come from a lower middle class background, it isn't as if you're choosing between CS or investment banking.

Wait a second, I KNOW I've heard of this HalfSigma dude before. I remember this shyt he wrote about chess. He's racist as fukk.

Luckily for would-be chess players of only average intelligence, smart people in the past have already figured out the strategies. With proper instruction, chess doesn’t require an above average intelligence, it just requires a lot of memorization (of openings, end games, and various strategy rules), and a lot of mental concentration (to scan the board for all possible dangers and play out several moves in one’s head). Yes, it’s a difficult mental task, but not a mental task which requires reasoning or learning by reasoning. Thus we see the phenomenon of an intermediate school in the ghetto with an excellent chess team. No, this doesn’t mean that kids in Harlem are just as smart as kids in Larchmont, it means that with good instruction and lots of practice, the kids in Harlem can be trained to play chess well, just as they can understand English a lot better than much smarter kids in Japan.

This also explains the phenomenon of not-very-bright chess hustlers in Washington Square Park.

We need to understand that people believe what they believe for emotional reasons rather than logical reasons. Thus rational arguments about all of the scientific evidence in favor of HBD fall on deaf ears. The HBD-denialists have the more powerful emotional arguments. Primarily, they can call people who believe HBD racists, and everyone knows that racists are the most evil people in the world and no one wants to be a racist.

The best way to spread the truth of HBD is to convince people that many other people, just like themselves, believe in HBD, but they just keep this knowledge to themselves because of the taboo nature of the topic. The only way to spread the truth of HBD is, ironically, to lie a little. You need to make up stories which demonstrate to people that belief in HBD is common, but just suppressed. And that such belief is not common among skinheads, but rather among smart people, people just like you, people who vote for Democrats and who recycle and eat organic food.

As I wrote earlier today, Asian HBD bloggers are great because they confuse liberals who divide the world into evil bigoted white people and virtuous oppressed minorities.

There are a lot of Jewish HBD bloggers, but non-liberal Jews are considered bigoted white people by everyone except the st0rmfr0nt crowd. (See photo of Ron Paul with Don Black the founder of st0rmfr0nt—the ironically named Black looks just like a Jewish guy I knew in Phoenix).

Therefore, the HBD blogging community could really use a black HBD blogger. Unfortunately, the only black person I know of who believes in HBD is the pseudonymous David Alexander who sometimes comments here, but unfortunately he mostly writes about how white women aren’t interested in him and about roadgeeking. All other blacks, including conservative blacks like Herman Cain and Condoleezza Rice, strongly believe in intellectual equality between the races and get righteously mad at those who speak the truth about HBD

John Derbyshire was fired from the National Review for a column he wrote advising white people to avoid blacks because they are dangerous. It’s too bad for George Zimmerman that he didn’t follow Derb’s advice

So does abortion cut crime? Duh! Of course it does, when you consider which race is having the most abortions per capita and which race commits the most crime per capita.

If all black women ceased having abortions, the downfall of Western civilization would be greatly hastened. Our world would rapidly become a miserable place, even for blacks – as they would lose the crutch of white society and have to fend for themselves

There could also be race riots in the future. This is like the riots in Los Angeles after the Rodney King trial, in which the low-class blacks go on a rampage, and cause a lot of vandalism in their own neighborhood, and kill a few unfortunate random white people, but there won't be any organization behind it. As long as you don't live near blacks, you won't be affected by it.
