Atlantic fukked them over and it kind of led to the downfall of the group itself as 9th was getting more play producing outside the group and Phonte was getting more love outside the group and people unfairly treated Pooh like the red-headed step child when Pooh can rap his ass off.

They had an ill ass concept for the third album that never happened:mjcry:

  • Atlantic is the worst record label for underground/conscious rappers
  • The Minstrel Show being too safe
  • Phonte>>>>Big Pooh
  • Phonte was moving towards the Foreign Exchange movement (good move imo)
  • Wrong era for them dudes
Seriously, I remember when they tried to do a show I think in SC. The crowd went crazy for the other acts (Joc and Jeezy?) and paid their respects for Little Brother. Dudes just laughed it off and just went on with the performance.

Sad state of affairs because The Justus League should have been a movement :mjcry:

Lol I don't actually remember the lineup, but in Phonte's blog it was something of that effect.

Elaborate on that.

I remember the album was suppose to be darker than the actual retail. Especially the original cover for the album, but they dialed back on the controversy (label shyt). I remember folks in rap forums being let down because the album didn't really address the shyt that was going on in the game, especially the BET situation.

As a North Carolina dude.......it's a powerful feeling when your state gets some shine....Finally :damn:..especially, since you spent your entire life supporting every other region's hip hop. It was a good feeling seeing them shine and get incredible respect in the underground and college radio, and it was earned. Yes, Petey Pablo was the breakout and always gets a salute from me, especially since he's from Eastern North Carolina. Petey is like N.C.'s version of the generic casual rapper, that just made a few solid hits and was out.....but Little Brother was N.C.'s attempt at a Tribe Called Quest or Pharcycde......how could it not be good music and how could they not be succesful in that vein of hip hop.

The fact that in the midst of the "Laffy Taffy" Southern reign.....they came from the South with conscious but chill/fun rap.....they bucked all the trends of that period....and I was hoping they would get those 1 or 2 hits to get a lil mainstream attention.

Instead, they broke up and scattered in the wind...I was like :mindblown: :mjcry:....J Cole gave NC some shine, but he is still kind of transplanty....but obviously quality music too....

Remember though, the BET executive told them that the single and video for "Lovin It" was to smart for BET... it was just a video of people in a lounge groovin and that shytty executive said it was to smart..not sure if to be:scust:by it being called to smart, when it wasn't ...or to be :scust: at calling viewers to dumb to appreciate a chil hop song.

But...also...I have to put some blame on the general North Carolina hip hop fans who wouldn't support dope hip hop that wasn't some minstrel show dance thuggy shiit......I blame the general N.C. fan...and the sorry ass local radio stations too....:francis:
