Them nikkaz dope as hell :gucci:

Is it cause they fell out with 9th?

Nobody aint tryna hear real shyt? :gucci:
Corporate Heads put a ban on their music.

BET wouldn't play their music videos, Atlantic stopped promoting and putting money behind them.

They saw intelligent rap buzzing and they put a stop to it. It's really that simple.

Don't listen to the other excuses, These guys were buzzing heavy. but because it wasn't part of the media agenda to dumb down the music, they pulled the plug.

I'll never forgive BET for that.

Yall got that wrong era shyt backwards imo.
If Lil Brother came out in the 90s they would have been just another aight group
Part of the reason they had the success they did have is cause they were one of the few groups successfully pulling off that sound in the era they were in

I feel little brother peaked as far as an underground backpack kinda group could blow. They had a song on BET ( this video premiered on 106 and park) and a record with Wayne. Had they never broken up, they probably could of went further. But their sound ain't popping right now so it would of been short lived

:wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

I miss Little Brother man...They was the soundtrack to my teenage years. First time I heard them was on the Xm radio hip-hop station on satellite one day.
Now I see how old heads felt when ATCQ first broke up :mjcry:

I think what hurt Little Brother the most was they're deal with Atlantic. Atlantic records is the graveyard for many underground/lyrical rappers. They simply didn't see LB's vision and believe in them. They had already gained alot of buzz being indie...why sign with them devils?

The Hip-Hop scene was going through cycle where Dancing/Stunting was becoming more prominent...Little Brother was like Aliens from a spaceship.

Kanye West would be Little Brother status if not for Dame pushing him so hard convincing Jay that he was special. Both was making similar music at the time, but only difference is, Kanye had Dame & Jay. Little Brother didn't have that support or no one fighting for them.''

9th Wonder getting a big head also didn't help either.....But it was great while it lasted.

Atleast we got Foreign Exchange :yeshrug:

You can't really blame Atlantic. They turned in an album that wasn't commercial to a mainstream/commercial label. Why not just stay indy with an album like that? This is the same label that just saw the careers of T.I. and Twista really take off. Even then, Twista's sophomore didn't get a release until "Slow Jamz" took off and that was after years of push backs.

The difference between Kanye and LB is Kanye had hits. You can't really compare Kanye and 9th as producers either because Kanye was more versatile. He was making beats with soul samples that actually had a bounce to them. The Roc didn't even see Kanye becoming what he became.

Do a google search of 'Little Brother BET music video' and 'Little Brother Atlantic records'

Atlantic tried to change them. Then BET refused to play their music videos. That lead to Atlantic pulling support from them, which lead to the break up.

You unironically calling yourself cool for not liking LB? :beli:

I mean you have to remember the era. Being on a message board was some super nerd stuff back then. Blogging and all of that was the same way.

Twitter didn't pop off until Chad Johnson & Diddy made it cool. Currensy (especially right after he left Young Money) was one of the first "cool" rappers to kind of blend the internet hipsters with the streets back in the day and make it more acceptable to be online like that.

So nah, Little Brother had little to no appeal at all that made them seem cool. People forget what made Kanye blow was the fact he was a Louos Vuitttion backpack rapper who wore Jordans & Polo. He was "conscious" but still relatable. Kanye is 99% the reason these two songs popped off because the groups themselves didn't have the "cool" factor.

The BET "blackball" really doesn't fly because the music Little Brother made wasn't commercial friendly at all. Nothing catchy about it. It aint some conspiracy against "intelligent" rap. People just ain't playing stuff that isn't catchy. They never learned how to compromise and balance out to compete.

At 3:20 of this 2003 Kanye interview he specially talks about learning how to make the stuff Mos Def, Dead Prez and Talib made (backpack rap) cool and accessible.

"They label me a backpack rapper. I'mma be a Louis Vuitton backpack rapper."

I think another thing that hurt LB was Petey Pablo.

When his wack ass dropped he really had the country thinking we in NC spin our shirts like helicopters:gucci:

I cant speak for most of NC other than the Triad or specifically Winston-Salem. But we aint fukk with him.... he was a bad stigma that put a stank on NC artist for years:hhh:
