I really hope they have some form of flex scheduling very soon. These idiots put all their eggs with the Knicks and Lakers this season. :beli:
There's a reason why flex scheduling is easy for the NFL and difficult as fukk for the NBA. It's about getting the networks to cooperate. In football you only need to deal with the whims of 3 (NFL Network and ESPN have fixed games). In the NBA you're dealing with stingy cable networks, some of which are affiliates of ESPN's rival. The Knicks are easier to flex out because they own their own station so they don't mind airing their own games. Other teams don't have that kind of luxury, which means their games could potentially be blacked out. Other times it's just harder to move the times because of the venue.

The NBA does have flex scheduling. ESPN has flexed out a bunch of games this year. It's TNT that it's more difficult for because there's typically only 2 or 3 games airing that day

They've flexed out games, but they aren't flexing good ones in. Bucks/Hawks would be a great game to flex in this afternoon on ABC. How many national games have those two even had all season? Three? They need to be more pro-active/flexible, especially with surprise teams.

They aren't gonna put Milwaukee on an ABC slot. They're a middle of the pack small market team with no big names.

Portland/Memphis probably could've gotten flexed in if the game was in Memphis instead of Portland. ABC's not gonna have a 3:00 game on Oscar night

Your thinking is what's wrong with the networks. Milwaukee's won 9 of 10 and Atlanta has the second best record in the NBA. How is that not a great matchup for a Sunday afternoon?

I never said it wasn't a good matchup. I'm telling you why they wouldn't pick Milwaukee

I feel like we are getting less games this season period

There's the same amount of national games this year as there were last

Technically there have been less this season since at least a few Knick games that were supposed to be televised just got straight up taken off the schedule and replaced by some other shyt that aint basketball. :beli:

Those small market teams will never catch on if they refuse to air them. Even MLB does a better job promoting small market teams than the NBA.

I agree :yeshrug:.

When the new TV deal kicks in there's supposed to be an increase in the amount of national TV games aired over the course of the season, so hopefully that'll lead to some of those lesser known teams getting more national slots.
