as for the boldeded i admit we got our fair share of bullshyt comin' outta the south right now and for years, but i don't think it's fair to put the blame solely on the south
i think it's bigger than that
the south got talent, look at big krit

krit is dope no doubt and is conscious.
The south also suffers from a perception of them being slow and just plain negative. Theres no balance.
Unlike the east and west where there was proper social commentary and politics talk the south is seen as lacking in that respect and though they have serious talent it has been wasted on mindless songs about lean and trap houses whatever. You'd literally think all of Atlanta and new orleans spends all day and night at the trap house.
