When men make less money, there are fewer marriages, thus fewer stable families buying (and keeping!) homes, thus less money to fix everything that needs to be fixed.
When men make less money, there's more crime, more dependence on the state, thus more police and social services, but nobody to pay for it.
This is all circular. The decline in men's status is apparently the canary in the coalmine for the entire society.
