Elm St. is up there as well as the first Halloween. Movies like that were ground breaking though. Most horror flicks today are unoriginal .

I think a big part of it that real life serial killers, disease, unfortunate life circumstances ECT are far more scary than any movie.

However I still enjoy a good scary movie

I haven't played that one but the original Silent Hill on PS1 was the scariest game I ever played. The shytty graphics made it even more scarier since everything was covered in fog. You never knew if something was in front of you until it was literally 3 feet away.

Same with the very first resident evil
