Why are 99.98% of Horror movies not scary

Last movie to actually 'scare' me was Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn.

Why?

Because I watched it all by myself......in the dark.......at like 3 am..............

Other than that, I haven't been scared by a horror movie since Phantasm.........

Then again, the first horror movie I ever saw was Dawn of the Dead when I was a kid because mom couldn't get a babysitter........

Basically, once you grow up, horror movies don't affect you primally anymore.

I like movies that are more.....disturbing.....than scary nowadays.

Audition, Megan is Missing, A Serbian Film, Old Boy, etc. I'll watch those all damned day like this.......

Imagine a movie about a couple that fosters children only to receive money from the government and systematically abuses the kids to the point they become emotionally, mentally, and physically scarred for the rest of their lives.......

I use to be scared of horror flicks prior to the internet.

When you seen REAL people get executed, snuff films, and all kinds of horrible shyt it’s hard to get scared at some weirdo murderer chase a cac bytch around.

Martyrs and inside (French horror flicks) was the last films that scared me.

My mind has been tainted.

Read the shining that book is even more than the movie. Like many have said horror these days is just cheap CGI and jumps.
Real horror has your mind going just from simple story telling
