I'm watching this now,
Because subject matter that would actually have folks shook would be too controversial for enterainment IMO
/close threadProbably because you're a grown person now.

The scene where Father Karras was listening to the recording of those different voices is still unsettling to meI'm grown and the original Black and White "The Exorcist" still scares me.
We were talking about disturbing movies at work last week and A Serbian Film and Old Boy were mentioned by a few people. Might have to check those out nowLast movie to actually 'scare' me was Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn.
Why?
Because I watched it all by myself......in the dark.......at like 3 am..............
Other than that, I haven't been scared by a horror movie since Phantasm.........
Then again, the first horror movie I ever saw was Dawn of the Dead when I was a kid because mom couldn't get a babysitter........
Basically, once you grow up, horror movies don't affect you primally anymore.
I like movies that are more.....disturbing.....than scary nowadays.
Audition, Megan is Missing, A Serbian Film, Old Boy, etc. I'll watch those all damned day like this.......
Salem's Lot too.Read the shining that book is even more than the movie. Like many have said horror these days is just cheap CGI and jumps.
Real horror has your mind going just from simple story telling
If you really want to see a disturbing movie there is this old italian movie called Salo............We were talking about disturbing movies at work last week and A Serbian Film and Old Boy were mentioned by a few people. Might have to check those out now
Why?Too formulaic. They don't really do well in the box office, so most times the studio just DGAF.
I also blame the scream franchise.
