Not knocking the country, as a country its one of the best when u put aside the politics, police, healthcare etc, and i do generally like living bi costal. But seeing some of the terms friends and family have to endure for jobs is crazy

But how is it someone can get a job and only have 6 days paid vacation and one sick day? How is that even humane? The average paid leave is 15 days which is illegal in most developed countries.

This doesnt even take into account that resturants oay workers so badly that they have to beg aka ask for tips

This is inhumane,

Thoughts?

Because America is a country for the corporations more than for the people.

Easy firing, minimal vacation, minimal parental leave etc. make it much easier to start and run businesses in a way that maximizes profits instead of balancing profit seeking with also minimizing the stress on employees like European labor laws do.

There’s too many rags to riches stories about beating the odds for what op is talking about to be a real issue of concern.

The hidden message behind the 80s version of Scarface is that if someone can migrate to N America, start off washing dishes, only later to become rich , then you as a citizen born in this country have no excuse.

Because they don’t care

if you don’t like it they’ll just say you can live on the streets.

one person did say “Days off were not always guaranteed UNIONS fought for that, the 5 day work week...the UNION fought for that”
If it wasn’t for unions we’d still have child labor, no overtime pay and crazy hours with no additional compensation

It's all about money. Corporations have far more say in what is available than the workers. Partially because companies can lobby, unions are not strong like they used to be, and people have just accepted it. Now cities give property away to even have some companies grace us with their presence. Pretty sad

That's another thing, Americans are fukking p*ssy for all the rah-rah talk about 2nd Amendment and having guns to check the government.

Americans don't protest hard like the French and others do to secure their rights.

Then again, like @smokeurobinson said Americans fetishize the rags to riches American Dream wayyy too much. Thinking because you have a 0.00001% chance to become super rich, there's enough opportunity and we shouldn't complain or try to make life comfortable for the average person. Average person just gotta work harder to become super rich if they want a good quality of life.

Well when you have companies like apple that have more money than the Government it's pretty easy to see why
