Industrial farming is hard and stressful, the margins are tight, you need deep resources to make a success of it.

Conventional farming is going to die no question about it, the new wave is organic farming, farming that is sustainable that doesn't deplete the soil, water and doesn't exploit the workers. Before that promised land is reached a lot of farmers will go bust and some may commit that.

Organic farming will mean higher prices for produce and food in general, right now all the externalities and costs of conventional farming is not factored into the food we buy its borne by the government in the form of subsidies, by the environment and by the exploited work force

Breh, almost all the organic commercial farming in the US still relies on mexican workers putting in 14 hour days for minimum wage, don't get it twisted. Its more expensive because your yields are lower and your risks of getting wiped out from russet mites or other pests without poison are much higher

I used organic in the holistic sense, using slave labor to me doesn't constitute organic.

Real organic farming should be fair wage and treat workers equitably, not exploit them.

I know the yields are lower but I choose lower yields over chemical laden cornucopia that will shorten life spans and poisons our food chain any day. The reason pests are problem right now is because organic farming is mono culture single species plants that makes it easier for pests, poly culture is the answer to confuse the plant predators, even then you will still have a percentage of damage you got to factor in. But I'm fine with that.

The ultimate issue here is everything we are doing now is unsustainable including our population, I don't believe organic farming could feed the current human population. There is an optimum human population level we should strive towards of no more than 2 - 3 billion, anything above we are headed for destruction. We are headed toward 9 billion people now. scary!

Trump about to put a clamp on their workforce, fukkem :manny:
You can’t say “fukkem” about the ones feeding you, bruh. This shyt affects everyone...this is a legit concern. If farmers and their offspring are showing disdain in continuing to farm, were looking at skyrocketing food prices and more imported foods. Shyt, possibly food shortages.
