You mean that ball of fire we can see in the sky and feel the heat from and get burnt by?

I'm saying :mjlol: You don't even need 20/20 vision to see the sun in the sky, much less a telescope.

How he equates that to the absolute belief of their being a god had me like :what:

Believe that you are on a rock traveling thousands of miles through a void going around a giant ball of fire. But yeah, God is a outlandish concept.

Breh, you can look up in the sky and see there's a ball of fire. You can feel the effects of it and tell that its there. You can tell when its out its hot. You can track when it'll be eclipsed by the moon. You can tell its effects of vegetation all by using your eyes.

So comparing the sun (something we can empirically prove exists with the most primitive of resources) to a deity that by definition we can never see, hear, interact with, respond to, or measure is completely assanine.

There are so many better examples you could have used I'm like :mindblown:

When you put it like that, the sun thing is a bad example. But you get the point.

I was thinking about something else in relation to this topic today.

Everbody thinks their religion is the truth and that, deep down, all the non-believers know that particular brand is the truth, but are too stubborn or wicked to accept it. I've heard people say atheists are "mad at God" and so willfully dismiss any evidence that supports his existence.

For a while after losing my faith, I thought "If God is going to punish me for this, then fukk God."

But really what I want to say is, fukk the believers who say I'll be punished for using critical thinking and logic in an attempt to find the truth instead of blindly accepting tradition and contradictory ancient texts. It's not "fukk God", it's "fukk you". God is just the weapon believers use to attack others with. So saying "fukk God" is like saying "fukk the gun" instead of assigning blame where it really belongs...the shooter.
