I hate seeing this argument, BUT I love the way they discredit it. The same people who talk about the big bad Evil White man, who rules the world, and keeps Black people oppressed. Is all of a sudden infallible and a trustworthy source of information. He says we put a rover on mars then goddammit it must be true. Landed a probe on a motherfukking comet flying through space at 85,000 mph.

Okay I don't want to go into this but I will. I lost my mother at 4 to a rare form of cancer that was passed on to me. I do not question why my mom lost her battle or why I have deal with it. I can't be upset with the situation i was given, I have to work with it to the best of my means. 3 years ago in April I was having brain surgery & I prayed that I would have a swift recovery. I had to go through physical therapy to be sure that my body was back on track with my mind. So please every stop it, I personally know that medical intervention & spiritual intervention does help.

You're going to ignore this but whatever. You need to stop holding onto that God shyt like it's a blanket protecting you from the world.

If your body made a swift recovery, it's because your body was strong enough to fight off the infection, not because some being in Space decided so (while ignoring the millions of suffering people who die every fukking day). Same with your physical therapy, you did all that. Not God. Not Zeus, Not Allah.

So if you want to thank someone, go thank the Doctor, or go thank your parents for taking care of you and feeding you properly so you had the nutrients to fight off whatever.

I was a Christian by default through my youth. I went to church because I had to, read passages because I was told to. Then one day, some a$$hole atheist said God wasn't real to me. Being a Christian, I was going to prove this dude wrong so I read the bible, asked questions at my church and to the members. The more I studied the teachings, the more crazy it all seemed and the more crazy the followers seemed.

I hopped to other religions looking to find the way then landed on it's all bullshyt, none of us know anything more than the next man. We're all full of shyt. Then I declared myself atheist.

It does seem "crazy" but if you truly think about the fact that we are able to exist on earth and earth itself is crazy. the fact that we have such complicated and perfect biological systems is crazy. Pregnancy and delivery is crazy. Only one sperm out of millions needed to fertilize an egg thats crazy! so what makes belief in god any crazier???

But you still believe in god right?!?! the better question you should ask yourself which you probably do is why god took your mom and why your still here???

What if I told you there be a day to read your DNA and sequence the cancer out on a celluar level would you believe in god or science???

If God loves me, he does nothing to show it. So if he exists, why worship a negligent or uncaring God? And if God does not love me, why worship him? Why worship a being that has no love for you and rains evil on you from his bully pulpit? That is not different from worshipping a cruel dictator.

I have more faith in Halo-level technological achievements and Gear of Wars' laser hammer than in any God. My own advancement and that of my peers are the only things that are worth praying for, and praying will not bring those things into fruition either. Work will.

There's nothing wrong with any of this FOR YOU PERSONALLY, but let's put it in context. You personalized a traumatic event, which is what thousands of people who lose their lives to cancer and other serious disorders do every day...but they are not saved. They die. Same goes for children born with disorders that kills them. Why aren't they saved? My point is that there is nothing wrong with having a personal, internalized spiritual connection that makes YOU feel better about YOUR situation, but I'm not about the personal, I'm about the society and as a whole, the society does not benefit from religious interventions and they never have. Its historical. I'm sorry but it is what it is.

I am happy that you made it though as you are a really great person.

Based on the religious text, he is the creator of heaven and earth. He is basically in control. You have beings that are living out their lives in pain and sorrow. As the creator you sit back and watch this happen. Why? That's my main gripe.

I don't see how you can equate me listening to my parents to God himself. It doesn't make sense. Sure, I was conceived or rather "created" through my parents. But let's be real. You can't compare the power that ones parents has to an omnipotent being. Parents can do only so much. There are some factors that cannot be accounted for as a parent. Now for God, I see no excuse for him. He is the ruler of the universe. He made everything, apparently. So you can't tell me that this being which such power can't control his own creations.

So basically you think God should enslave his own creations and force them to be perfect?

Yes the bible mentions time and time again that the devil rules the earth and has influence over most on this earth. He told Jesus if he gave him his soul he could have all the riches of the earth, hence because he rules the earth!
