Some younger women live the pain of their mothers. When I suggest that men go into the houses of the girl they're dating, I don't say that so you can go in there to brown nose. You go in there to see what type of environment the woman was raised in.
They all look hard in the face and like they been through some shyt to me. I noticed the same look in City Girls. These girls are hard as hell—not soft, and it shows in their faces, their voices and the music. But they are a product of their environment. Single mom homes, living in the projects, dealing with the kind of Brehs they rapping about, being raised to be tough and rough because of unfortunate circumstances.
Look when I was growing up, at one point I just straight up stopped wanting to be friends with the hard looking girls and the obese ones. I liked being friends with the pretty, soft looking, healthy, carefree chicks.
I think that is what these girls are trying to give in their music (the care free attitude) but damn you hear their voices and see their faces and you know the type of life they lived is anything but carefree. They been through some shyt, been hurt by Brehs, and they have a gift in terms of being able to rap, so they express themselves hoping to come up from it.
But I’m just over this phase of music and over the twerking shyt. It just all needs to be retired. Time for these girls to rap about something different. It all sounds the same at this point.
