Why are black women so religious? (not a bash thread)

If I thought this thread would be a mature conversation I would add my thoughts on it as a black woman who still have her faith although so many things have happen recently to weaken it.

A lot of people that are very religious are that because they need faith, hope and something to give peace to their lives. So the most marginalised and least protected contingent on the planet today (Black women) in many cases will be looking for these factors which is why a lot may be religious imo.

Chinese women in particular are easier to figure out. They worship status first, power second and money third. If you have at least 2 of 3 they will never disobey you. Period.

It's because our (black folks) culture has been dominated by the white folks... When they take over land they bring their god with them. It's happened countless times over history. And it's why Africa has such a high Christian population in the areas that were colonized by European nations.

We were religious before the White man came in Africa. We had deity, priest, rituals, etc.

Because women (and the lower rung of men) think primarily with their emotions, religion is needed to keep them from overindulging on their "feels" and crossing certain lines (as defined by the religion). Just so happens that the brand of Christianity we follow doesn't really have our best interests at heart. But its working for the people it was meant to work for...
