I think they're tired of the identity politics of the left. The right is certainly problematic, but day to day dealing with identity politics, cancel culture, and shaming tactics of the left gets draining.

I'd also argue that both siders are probably former democrats that are disillusioned by what the party has become and find the direction it's going isn't for them, but they are aware of the dangers of the right.

Honestly Trump's tax policies first go around benefited me quite a bit. I also didn't get a stimulus check yet I tend to vote Democratic/Independent.

I'll admit during Trump's first election dealing with white liberals telling me I should care about certain issues annoyed me. White conservatives are generally neutral/indifferent which I can deal with. White liberals see i differentiate on things like gun policy (i live in a defend the police city) and immigration and they tend to be antagonistic. Honestly seeing them lose isn't the worst thing.
