An article of Dan is proof that you've heard white men idolizing him. :what:

You can admire someone without seeing him as your idol brah.

i haven't recorded the white people i've heard idolizing him.

fact is white people idolize entertainers just like black people. you think taylor swift, katy perry got so many instagram and twitter followers because of black people?

ill say white people do it less often because they see more visible role models in other avenues, but don't think it's only black folk who idolize entertainers

It's mostly lower and lower-middle class folks that worship celebrities. Just like you hear folks thinking it's cool to be a cop or fireman, you know, glorified civil servants. Folks with money and means do not respect any of this nonsense.

I remember watching a documentary on JFK and it mentioned how JFK Jr. wanted to go into acting and his moms basically put the kibosh on it. She was a part of the power elite and didn't respect actors, musicians, or athletes at all. A lot of people with money or means do not respect these folks, it's mostly kids and people with too much time on their hands living vicariously through what they see on TV.

I also remember Paul Simon talking about how folks look at musicians for this and that, but it's really politicians and bankers that run everything.

not everybody has an interest in science/inventors but everybody likes to be entertained :yeshrug:

& this is the best answer in the thread, devoid of all the "conspiracy theory" bs that everybody likes injecting into their comments.

it's all about what sort of service you are providing in society and how valuable it is, how many ppl find it useful. that's all there is to it. and not even all entertainers are created equal. evidently, some are better or more effective at entertaining than others, and this is reflected in their relative fame and pay cheque.
