Same with executive assistants. This position is a cheat code to climb the ladder in many companies and it’s mostly women who occupy them

I have one at my old holding company. She got the job because the billionaire founder “liked her” found her at some catering job.

Placed her as a receptionist, 1-2 years later, she’s the VP of Hospitality

:laff:

The other two receptionist were sick lol & the one promoted was bad.

Ppl in this thread don't know what they're talking about

HR is not just employee/staff relations

There's also recruitment, talent management, data governance/audit, payroll, etc...

If you have a background in Finance or Operations, it's helpful to talk the HR language bc most major areas are siloed and breaking down the barriers will help you get ahead
The Frontline are normally women or gay men. You aren't saying anything new.
Same reason why cashiers are normally women and gay men

Women and gay dudes gravitate to HR because it let's them know everybody's personal business. It's like being a professional gossip.

They know what you make, where you live, how many kids you have, which employees are fukkin, who has a weed card, who got arrested last weekend, they know if alimony/garnishments/ child support is coming from your check....and they get paid to sit around and talk about it.

Society told men office work was feminine. When’s the last time one of you applied for an admin job as a foot in the door? That’s how a lot of people start in HR, like help desk with IT. Men usually go for mailroom positions.

Yup & you’ll have 1-2 Black people in upper to middle management. The rest are HR, Admin, Receptionist, Assistant, UPS, Catering, Janitorial, Uber delivery or Security.
