Is it some sort of tactic or marketing scheme? Check all the major albums, 90% of them have #4 as the lead/first single.

why should it be track one? im sure most older albums have a little theme to it, you cant start it off with a party track when this is your first album and you from the struggle life.

Is this the blueprint formula in the industry for lead single position on albums?

Nope, on GRODT "In the club" is track 5, The Massacre the lead single (Disco inferno) is in the middle of the album.

LIG, "The don" is towards the end of the album.

Rihanna most recent album, the lead single is track 2.

That's just some examples off the top of my head :ld:

they have to Place it around 3-5 because people might skip songs otherwise to hear the single and then they might miss out on 2nd singles etc.
