Why would anyone be mad about his trophies? Steve Nash has more trophies than Chris Paul, does that make him a better player?

Then you post a youtube video. You can do that for any top 100 player much less MJ. You really thought a youtube video would be the end all for this topic?

So you don't think he is?

Obviously, it's not supposed to be used as the only argument in comparing players. It was a counter argument to the whole "he averaged 50 and 25 boards" thing..

You would obviously have to factor in all of the other things as well. But I've never seen a serious conversation in comparing Wilt to modern day players and not adjusting his numbers for pace, it's idiotic not to. I'm not saying those numbers are his absolute ceiling, because of things like fatigue etc. but it gives us a good indication of how "dominant" or maybe "not so dominant" his numbers actually were. His raw numbers are inflated, it's as simple as that.

You can't have a serious discussion with anybody adjusting for pace because you're not adjusting for the defensive rule changes either. Oscar Robertson and Wilt and the rest put up numbers in an era where you had to damn near bleed to get a foul and dudes could take your shot off the rim.

LeBron's numbers wouldn't be what they are if defenses could hand check and camp in the lane like they could in the past. If you want to compare scoring numbers, you gotta adjust every 3 pointer made and reduce them by a point to adjust for that.

As for Wilt, he would dominate any era because he was also damn near an olympic high jumper and was about as fast as LeBron. His combination of size, speed and athleticism is unmatched in any era. They redefined the pro game because of him.

Japan, but from the 989
As a Piston's fan...I will give MJ the credit where it was due. The NBA back in the 80's early 90's was like a dirty ass pickup game most of the time. Go back and watch those old games on ESPN classic, dudes did not go to the hole back in the day without getting fouled...HARD. Jordan won titles. That speaks for itself. Even with the supporting cast he had. He did it. I expect Lebron to do the same in Miami. I'm actually expecting Lebron to exceed Jordan just because he is so much bigger and has more of an all around game. But Lebron has to get that killer instinct. Kobe had it. That, "I'm taking the last shot and you can't stop me" mentality.

At the top.
I'll give you a few (before he even won a title):

In 1988, Michael Jordan averaged 32.5 points per game (Higher than any of the seasons Lebron has played in the NBA),

8 assist per game (more than Lebron has ever averaged in a single season),

8 rebounds per game (more than Lebron has ever averaged in his previous 9 seasons)

2.9 steals per game (also more than Lebron has ever averaged in steals),

on 53.8% from the field (Though Lebron currently sits at 55.5 - Jordan's 53.8% is still higher than Lebron's previous 9 seasons). Not to mention Jordan's 85% free throwing shooting compared to Lebron's 73%.

That was an epic season done out of necessity, due to the fact that Horace Grant and Scottie Pippen had not yet come of age. Lebron doesn't have a season better than that, and that arguably isn't even Jordan's best season. With the aforementioned facts I've just supplied; it's safe to say, from a numerical perspective, Michael Jordan could do everything Lebron can do - at a higher rate within a 48 minute span. Thus making Jordan, presumably, the better basketball player.

Also, the year before...MJ won a Scoring title and a Defensive Player of the Year award in the same season. Making him not only the best offensive player in the game, but the best defensive player as well...has Lebron ever done that?

I won't touch Lebron's well-documented coronary issues.

:wow: grand opening grand closing.
Op trying to big up lebron by bringing Jordan down..then disappeared like lebron vs celtics :troll:

What he did for the sport is :salute: worthy and for that he deserves the respect of all players before and after his era but he wasn't a better Basketball player than KAJ, Shaq, Wilt, Russell, or Lebron.

100% agree other than LeBron, a great big man always triumphs a guard, all things being equal(coach, teammates,etc..)

:obama: I got you. I will just use Lebron best season and break it down in every statistical way including team.

I'm a Knick fan for life and will never forgive that fakkit MJ for single handedly preventing some good Knicks teams from advancing :pacspit:

:to:

But even I can't take this thread serious. Wilt was the most dominant force the NBA ever seen and that should be indisputable. MJ, however, showed a will to win that has not been matched by the likes of Kobe, LeBron or anybody else. Son ALWAYS saved his best for the biggest moments. I used to hate watching this nikka drop 25 in the 4th quarter like it was nothing Numbers can be misinterpreted but anybody who watched son play couldn't deny how he willed his team to victory in the clutch every time.

We beat the Bulls in '94 because Scottie's heart pumped kool-aid and didn't want the big shot. An out of shape MJ came back halfway through the next season and took a flabby and sick Chicago team to the 2nd round and never lost a playoff series after that. Dude only saw 1 game 7 during all those championship runs.

:whoa:

Not because of that bogus foul call on Pip at the end of the game?

Either way it was a great game, and a great series.

@Born2King said Jordan would average 45 per game in today's NBA. He wouldn't even break 30PPG.

Just wait until Tim Duncan get his 5th title. The Timmy D the GOAT movement gonna take off for real

Most fans don't like watching Duncan play. You see most of these MJ fans just love watching MJ play. He was exciting, anyone can watch him and be excited. He does things easy and looks fun to watch. :manny: But the issue is these dudes overrating him as a ball player and getting tight if you think someone is on his level.
