Why are moderate Dems being blamed for the House losses?

I've already stated that economic progressive policies can be pretty popular. I wonder how popular "defund the police" is in swing districts.

Probably not very popular, but "defund the police" is poor messaging. As a moderate you have to reframe the issue.

Moderates have to be able to articulate their own vision in their own district that overrides whatever bs messaging about AOC their opponent is doing. Republican moderates had the same issue in 2018 with Trump and got absolutely swamped. It's a tough tightrope.

One possible solution is to go all in on the economic populism. That makes the stakes different and derails the culture war narrative Republicans want to use. Sherrod Brown in Ohio does that and consistently outperforms other state Dems by 8-10 points in a red state.

Just like how we pay for tax cuts
the trump tax cuts, which i didnt agree with, added 1.9 trillion to the debt over 10 years. ive seen you in other threads having no issue adding twice that amount to the debt tomorrow

whats the price tag on the green new deal?

Sherrod Brown is an interesting case but isn't he a protectionist (which is a position most of the new left is not willing to take)? I wonder how he will do in a presidential year though, in 2018 he cut it closer than people were expecting. But I agree to double down on economic populism, and hopefully that drowns out whatever culture war issues the GOP brings up.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
:laff: im just fukking around

someone post how AOC was gonna pay for the green new deal again tho?

One of the ways would be via a Carbon Tax. That’s actually in the bill.

And before you dismiss what I just said, watch this video in its entirety. If you don’t know who the person speaking in the video is, google him. Google what he’s about.

So this person in the video actually agrees with one of the ways you would pay for the green new deal.

There is no price tag. Green New Deal is a resolution not a piece of legislation.

Now if you look at Bernie’s plan that was $16 trillion over 10 years. That’s the most ambitious plan out there.

If you look at Biden’s it’s $2 trillion. Warren was over $3 trillion.

But let’s be reality, whatever it is, it’ll pay for itself and create real economic growth.

Most of the New Left is protectionist. It's the centrists who are free trade.

Tester from Montana is another one. He's this hick-looking big white guy who loves guns and checks all the cultural marks for the whites up there but campaigns as an economic populist and wins in a state that is consistently red.

It's not just about door knocking though. They need to give some power to these local organizations that get people registered and interested in the candidates. That was done in Georgia to an extent.

Some of these people just want to do bland TV ads and a rare speech and call it a day when the opposition is literally running a well oiled propaganda machine that doesn't care about the rules.
Good luck with that :mjpls:

I see progressive Democrats complain about Trump's trade war, though. Which of the Dem candidates this year were openly in favor of say, tariffs against China? I also doubt any of them would speak out against H1B visas.

I know about Tester but he may have been lucky that his election was 2018 instead of 2020.

Ohio and Iowa have large rural white populations, that's the GOP's bread and butter
They had that in 2008 and 2012 and Obama won twice.

Sherrod Brown is still Senator in Ohio and won his 2018 race by 7%.

Tom Harkin was Iowa’s Senator for decades until retiring in 2015.

Dems have to compete everywhere.

They have it even more now. Trump brought economic populism to the GOP which took away the socially conservative but fiscally liberal blue collar voters in the Midwest that the Dems used to get.

I know they should try to compete everywhere, but I feel like Biden focusing on the Midwest/PA and not wasting time trying to flip say, Kentucky and Tennessee was smart.
