You can argue dunks are the shoe that ruined the sneaker culture. First hypebeast sneaker imo. I remember ppl camping out for dunks over 20 yrs ago

Yes I had Em as a kid and I thought I was walking on water lol, but it wa an ever as bad as this

The real problem is no one bats their eyes off a regular shoe being over $100 so when a hype shoe is released or re-released they can price it whatever.

I prefer shoes in the $60-80 price range but it’s hard to get them :sadbron:

I remember back in the day I was able to get Nike dunks for under $75 if I was paying more for premium SB's nothing more than 100.

It's the fact that they're super hard to get now they're also just more expensive for just general release style colorways that annoys me.
I've given up on Nike's honestly and I've just been collecting skate shoes from the late 90s and early 2000s.
:yeshrug:
Cause at least those are easy to get.
damn back in 05'-07' we were looking at 120+ for sb dunks.

Haven’t bought a pair of Nikes over half a decade. I do need a pair of new hoop shoes though, so I’ll have to get something

I’ve said this before and I hate to be that guy but…Nike shoes are UNDER priced. It makes no sense from a capitalist sense to sell a product for $100-200 when you know for a fact there’s a demographic frothing at the mouth ready and willing to buy for 3,4,$500

The ONLY reason Nike doesn’t do that is bc they’re afraid of the damage it would do to their branding as quasi family based. Taking me back to my marketing days… it’s a very tricky calculus but I think Nike is right to keep it like this so be thankful tbh.

Any other company in their position would wipe out the competition by increasing production (which is dirt cheap) and raise prices. Outlets like Goat, stockX, independent resellers, etc shouldn’t even exist

It’d be like new iPhones being limited and only $150, so they sell out and the day after you have to buy it elsewhere for $500. Apple would never allow it
