It doesn't really work like this because housing isn't public. You would have to nationalize housing. We do have such a system but only for the most substandard housing in section8.

So unfortunately, Immigrant money is just as good as resident money to a private landlord in better housing. Arguably, it's even better than resident money because they will gladly pay more for properties because nonAmericans have no issue having six people in a three-bedroom house raising the overall yield for the landlord, while decreasing the cost for each individual adult in the household. On the West Coast it's a very common to see Indians , Chinese, and Hispanics with two people per room.

Question for you breh. From your previous posts I understand that you are (or were previously) a teacher. Why do you think your industry has been so resistant to H-1Bs?

I was thinking about it the other day, and your field totally would be perfect for it. It faces the same issues as tech or nursing where there is a shortage of teachers, and employers are unwilling to raise wages or benefits for teachers. I'm amazed that education admin hasn't realized they can get Filipinas, Indians, Nigerians, etc who would gladly work for less money than locals. Especially in the south, we're education unions are weak
