Even though I consider myself African-American(been in US since 9) i obviously don't have the history alot posters have here in the US...

Having said that, why don't reparations focus more on the GOVERNMENTS lack of enforcing equal opportunities(Seperate but Equal) for African Americans during segregation rather than slavery?

White folks plus every other whitewashed race(Hispanic, Arab, Indian, etc..) are never gonna support reparations for slave descendants but if you focus on documented and clear cut history of the government(state, federal, municipal) not being fair to African Americans plus it shuts up alot of Americans that are against reparations....

It's strange that you are making the point that you missed. :francis:

Also no disrespect, but this misunderstanding of the issue is why ADOS are so adamant on keeping reparations on/about actual ADOS.

No disrespect taken, never that but white folks is even getting foreigners to support no reparations, at this point like always everybody is against black folks in America( even c00n as black people)

Focusing on the 80 plus years of the governments role in enforcing or turning a blind eye to racism towards African Americans is the better play than slavery

There is no arguement against that in my honesty opinion...

Reparations isn't just about slavery, it is all of it, up til now.

Slavery is just the genesis of the mistreatment and violence and neglect that the US government has facilitated against ADOS people and ancestors.

It's not about convincing people

Overwhelming, Americans did not like MLK or the Civil Rights movement but we still got the Civil Rights Act.

Most Americans were against freeing the slaves but we free.

This isn't about convincing anyone at this point.

I agree with you, i think reparations are due regardless of any scenario(slavery, segregation, etc..,)

But honestly, African Americans aren't getting reperations just focusing on slavery, segregation needs to be crux of argument, think about the sexual harassment(metoo) plus civil rights with transgender issues( i never compare our race to any of those issues, just saying )

There is no way any Republican or Democrat, cac, whitewashed cac would have an argument against African Americans.....

This is chess not checkers using white people own documented racist history in government, board hearings, etc will make the case the reparation rather than slavery.....

The case ADOS is making starts with the people who's lineage starts with slavery and goes all the way through today. Slavery is emphasized because recognizing slave lineages takes away all the vagueness of "people of color", "minority", "disenfranchised", "urban", "segregated", etc...

The HR 40 recently, which is on YouTube, if you listen to Coates argument and read his article, he doesn't focus on slavery but on continued government support through Jim Crow and etc of the 3rd class citizen status that we face.

Slavery is just one of the many things included, that's how we earned our citizenship, so it is a focus but it's not the whole thing.

It is about convincing people. It has to be voted on and approved by Cong. & the Senate.
