Even though I consider myself African-American(been in US since 9) i obviously don't have the history alot posters have here in the US...
Having said that, why don't reparations focus more on the GOVERNMENTS lack of enforcing equal opportunities(Seperate but Equal) for African Americans during segregation rather than slavery?
White folks plus every other whitewashed race(Hispanic, Arab, Indian, etc..) are never gonna support reparations for slave descendants but if you focus on documented and clear cut history of the government(state, federal, municipal) not being fair to African Americans plus it shuts up alot of Americans that are against reparations....
Because, and I believe the courts ruled it as such, there is no way you can enforce and maintain “Separate but equal”. And I agree, in Capitalism, there is no way it would hold up. Minorities would always get the shaft in any sort of separation. Only way they’d be able to get “the best” is by having all opportunities open to everyone.
If you were ADOS, or even slightly well- informed, you'd already have the answers to many of your questions. You been humble, so I'm not trynna go too hard rn, but how you gon start a thread asking why we not doing something when you don't even know what we doing in the first place?
That's like me asking, for example, why WI's ain't organizing their countries to ask for their own reparations. They are.
